Ultimate Pictures
Viscous Coupling
Just a few random shots from practice.
- Lieutenant Dan putting a nice mark on Merkey.
- Biscuit making a stellar catch.
- Offsides? What offsides? The disc hasn't been released yet, but I couldn't get the disc and the cones in frame.
Summer League 2003: Fine Wine
Week 1: Burgundy vs. White
It didn't occur to me to bring my camera this week. Too bad, because we played well.
Week 2: Burgundy vs. Blue
I was just causally trying to get a few shots, only one turned out, but I figured out some things about photographing ultimate
- Andrew about to catch the disc.
Week 3: Burgundy vs. Red
I was out this week with my gimpy leg, so I got a lot of pictures. Sorry for anyone I missed, a lot of them came out too blurry to use.
- Cap'n Laura throwing a forehand.
- Laura again, but on the receiving end.
- Dan (Hostetler) makes a leaping grab in traffic.
- Scott throws a flick under the mark.
- Scott makes his own leaping catch with Dan watching. Turncoat
fiancéewife Martha does not approve. - Tony says, "MY DISC!"; Ian watches.
- Scott demonstrates how to throw under the mark.
- Martha (Scott's traitor
fiancéewife) throws a hammer over Laura. - Karanbir once caught a fish this big (but the red guy caught a bigger one).
- Um, I don't know what happened here.
- Greg with a mighty pull; Zach confirms that we are ready.
- Dan (Ernst) putting the mark on a red guy.
- Scott throws yet another forehand under the mark; Karanbir contemplates the meaning of life.
- Dan (Hostetler) with a pull. "Look ma, everyone's onsides!"
- A sort of small dog's eye view of Tony's pull. My personal favorite.
Week 4: Burgundy vs. Purple
The doctor ordered me to rest my leg for 2 more weeks, so I got to take a lot of pictures again. Just to show I'm not playing favorites, there are several good shots of the opposing team. Playing the part of me this week is Scooter from Viscous Coupling. In terms of face time, he's also filling in for the absent Scott and Karanbir.
- Zach throws a forehand.
- Cap'n Dan puts a mark on Garret.
- Richard throws a forehand over the mark.
- Ian throws a forehand.
- Another fine forehand by Ian.
- Scooter gets loooooow for the forehand.
- Greg's turn to get low.
- Dan feels no need to get low.
- Scooter gets medium.
- Ian puts the bitch-slap on some swill.
- Tony shows off his mad hops while Allen admires.
- Now Zach gets in on the low throw action.
- Another perspective on the low-throwness that is Scooter.
- Zach makes a catch; Allen makes another appearance. Don't worry Allen, you'll have your time in the spotlight soon.
- Yes, you've seen it before, but I just can't throw out a good shot.
- The biggest cone ever.
- Richard, about to make a catch.
- Dan displays catching fundamentals while Ian breaks to the open space.
- Cap'n Dan makes a balletic catch while regular Dan watches in awe.
- This dog is adorable, but I belive it is rooting for the other team. Bad dog!
- See Allen, it was worth being the supporting player in all those other pictures.
- Aaron makes a lovely catch much to Zach's dismay.
- Everyone looks delighted at Richard's pull.
- Cap'n Dan makes a great leaping catch. Next time he should make it closer to the near sideline so I can get a better picture.
- Biju with a nice display of purple fundamentals.
- Unfortunately blurry, this action shot of Tony (and Allen) is too cool not to show.
Nice Bid
, is what you heard when Greg just barely missed Cap'n Dan's endzone pass.
Week 5: Burgundy vs. Green
I was out of town this week. I went to visit Michelle in Arizona. You can look at those pictures if you like. As far as ultimate goes, I'm told we played well and prevailed over the Brehobs' team.
Week 6: Burgundy vs. Gold
My long awaited game against the gold team. This team has a bunch of people I know from band, so even though my leg wasn't 100%, I wrapped it up and played anyway. I also enlisted Dan, Greg and Scott to take pictures while I was playing, so there are still a decent number, and even some of me.
This was a great game, by the way. It was close thoughout, and after we put a cap at 16, we tied the game at 15s. We were, unfortunately, not victorious, but a good time was had by all.
- Nicole makes a catch as Laura pursues.
- 10 seconds later, Nicole gleefully thows a forehand.
- Oh, my god! A backhand! Nice, Kar.
- Kinda blurry and far way, but I can't resist putting up a picture of me getting a D.
- Thrill to my rippling leg muscles as I throw the forehand.
- Ruth makes a nice bid. I'm not sure if it was successful.
- Dan DeSena, with a nice catch as Ian, Greg and Matt look on.
- Tony, with his standard nice catch
- There's apparently something amusing as I put on the mark. I don't think I'm getting low enough, but then again, this guy threw about 80% hammers.
- Greg was very happy with this picture of my "limbo forehand". I don't think it's very good form, but I was totally unmarked, so who cares. I belive this was a huck to (non-cap'n) Dan that connected for a score.
